The Milwaukee Police Department estimates that 50 gangs with over 1,000 members operate in the area. Several long-term multiagency gang investigations in Milwaukee concluded in early 2008 with the indictments of 100 gang members (see text box).

The Midtown section of Milwaukee has hoods like Merrill Park, Park View, Cherry Street, Ghost Town, Tray’s and other parts. Other Milwaukee North Side hoods are the legendary Burleigh or Burleigh Zoo, Uptown and 4 Block.

Examples of Schedule 2 drugs or controlled substances under Wisconsin’s drug laws include:

• Opium and opium-derived substances, such as Codeine, Morphine and Oxycodone.

In Wisconsin, a Class F felony is punishable by a fine of $25,000, a state prison sentence of 12 years, or both imprisonment and a fine. A Class F felony in Wisconsin is similar in degree to a Class G Felony, with a slightly longer maximum prison sentence.

A Class D felony is punishable by up to 25 years in state prison, a maximum fine of $100,000, or both imprisonment and a fine. Class D felonies in Wisconsin include drug trafficking and vehicular homicide. Wisconsin has a well-organized system to classify felonies, misdemeanors, and other violations.

In contrast, a Class D felony, while still classified as a felony, is the least serious and is considered minor when compared to other classes of crimes. This classification of crime generally includes crimes that are non-violent or victimless crimes that do not involve physical violence towards another individual.
