Withdrawing from a Course After the add/drop period has ended, you may withdraw from a course by completing a Monitored Withdrawal Request form in the office of the school offering the course. Students must process the Monitored Withdrawal Request form by the deadline.

Transfer of Credit The University of Pittsburgh generally accepts credits from institutions at which the applicant has received a grade of “C” or better in college-level coursework (not remedial) that corresponds to a course in our curriculum in content and credit value.

How to withdraw

1. Log in to the MyPCC Home tab.
2. Click Register for classes in the Term-to-Term Checklist.
3. Click Add or Drop classes and choose the current term.
4. Choose Withdraw from the drop-down menu.
5. Click Submit Changes.

Pitt clarifies new ‘G’ grade policy, professors and students voice mixed feelings. In addition to the late withdrawal option, the “G” grade will be modified for students as a “fallback grade.”31

A “G” grade is given by an instructor when class work is unfinished because of extenuating personal circumstances. When given a “G” grade, you are usually instructed to complete some clearly defined work (e.g. a final examination paper) within a specified period of time.

An “N” grade is used to indicate that the student has not achieved a minimal level of accomplishment. This grading option is available in a limited number of courses listed below. No grade is assigned. No grade points assigned and no credits computed in GPA.

Usually, at institutions in the U.S., a D+ is a passing grade. However on a 4.0 scale it carries only one quality point. Very often, students who fail to maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average may be placed on academic probation, so a D+ doesn’t really help a student. Yes it’s not a passing grade .

The national average for a GPA is around 3.0 and a 1.5 GPA puts you below that average. A 1.5 GPA means that you’ve gotten only C-s and D+s in your high school classes so far. Since this GPA is significantly below a 2.0, it will make things very difficult for you in the college application process.

If you have a 1.7 GPA, your grades in high school have been mostly C-s. With a GPA that’s this low, you may have a hard time getting accepted to college. 0.19% of schools have an average GPA below a 1.7. You can apply to colleges and have a good shot at getting admitted.
