Sheldon is eventually removed from the center by security, and decides to work as a busboy without pay with Penny and Bernadette at the Cheesecake Factory. Sheldon quickly realizes that being a waiter is more menial than being a busboy, and quickly trades positions, excelling at waiting.

The Cheesecake Factory is the primary source of Penny’s income in the series (Seasons 1-7). She works there as a waitress and bartender, and always serves the guys when they come in (albeit season 2).

Virgin Cuba Libre Penny is practicing mixing drinks for her job at the Cheesecake Factory and gets the guys to help her out by acting as mock-customers. Howard orders a “Slippery Nipple” and is barred, while Sheldon orders a diet coke.

At the end of the Season 6 finale “The Bon Voyage Reaction”, Raj’s girlfriend Lucy breaks up with him. The subsequent trauma apparently cures his mutism, and he finds he can talk to Penny, Amy, and Bernadette while completely sober.

The two dated until season 9 when Raj started pursuing Claire (Alessandra Torresani), a screenwriter he met at the comic book store. By the final season, Raj gives up on dating and asks his parents to find him a girl. They hook him up with Anu (Rati Gupta), and the two eventually get engaged.

Throughout the show, it is a plot point Sheldon does not drink alcohol. This is the subject of a number of major storylines in the series, including when he drank a Long island Ice Tea in season four, episode seven.

Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) are seen drinking bottled orange sodas, which sparked controversy over whether it was beer or not, due to Sheldon’s incredibly low alcohol tolerance.

He had to whisper what he wanted to say to any of the boys who would deliver his message for everyone to hear. This went on for years until in the season 6 finale titled “The Bon Voyage Reaction,” when everybody realized that Raj can suddenly talk to Penny (Kaley Cuoco) despite being sober.

Sheldon: A Cuba Libre traditionally comes in a tall glass with a lime wedge. Penny: (sarcastically) Then swim to Cuba. Sheldon: Bartenders are supposed to have people skills. Sheldon is drunk and singing “L’Chaim” on the piano at Penny’s bar.
