Lillie is the second classmate that Ash has meet in the Pokémon the Series Sun and Moon arc. Lillie’s hints of her romantic feelings to Ash is when she blushes over Ash’s praises of her, shows concern about his safety, smilies and giggles when Ash is showing funny picture, and is awe with his battling skills.

Latias. Still talking about Pokémons, Latias too (protagonist of the film Pokémon Heroes) has literally shown to have a crush on Ash .

Ash shows Serena more affection and consideration than he has past travel companions throughout the series. He worries about her feelings and is more touchy-feely with Serena than he is with other companions, placing a hand on her shoulder and even holding her hand in one episode.

Ash begins to develop his own personal feelings for Serena, even giving her a special gift in episode 59 of Pokémon XY, when they are both beside the pledging tree. The gift he gives her is a special blue ribbon that she then wears as part of her outfit for the rest of XY&Z starting in Episode 60.

With Serena, though, it was different — because for once, the show seemed to suggest that she liked him, liked him. “[Serena] is meant to be kissing [Ash] in that scene,” storyboard director Tetsuo Yajima said, based on a translation by members of the Pokémon fansite Serebii.

Ash Ketchum doesn’t officially have a girlfriend, but one of his traveling companions – Serena – is certainly his love interest. She definitely likes him and it is pretty clear that Ash likes her back.

In the movie Pokémon: I Choose You, Ash is hit by multiple attacks from Pokémon controlled by Marshadow, which kills him and sends his body and soul to a kind of afterlife, but is later resurrected by Ho-Oh after Pikachu jumps through a portal to save him. In the Victini movie, Ash freezes to death.

He is weak because he gives up his legendary health when he transforms into a Pichu. He sometimes can recall his legendary power to fight battles, but he is now as weak as most Pokemon when he starts out. This is why he refuses to go to a Pokeball. This is why is also stubborn about choosing a trainer.

Morbid Reality. While the two of them are only dead for a few moments, it’s clear that Ash and Pikachu did in fact die, and that Pokémon were responsible for it.

Ash’s death does not fit his character. In the letter he read, Eiji told him that he himself could change his destiny.

By the end Ash was just exhausted physically and mentally. He also understood that by keeping Eiji close to him he was endangering him. He deeply loved him so to protect him, he understood that he would have to leave him and keep his distance. So he let himself die, he finished his mission and made sure Eiji was safe.

Banana Fish, with its dark themes and complex character relationships, is an emotional roller coaster all the way through. At its core, Banana Fish deals with the devastating events that lead a person to believe they are not worthy of love, and the healing potential of unconditional love.

He listens open mouthed as Eiji says he doesn’t care, he doesn’t want to lose him and would do anything for him before being asked by Eiji to come to Japan with him. Ash chuckles and kisses Eiji again before sending him off with Alex.

Akira Ibe. He first meets Shunichi Ibe’s niece, Akira, in Garden of Light. They become friends, despite an age difference of ten years, and Sing remarks to Eiji that he thinks she’s “a sweet kid”. Five years later in New York Sense, their wedding pictures are shown, signifying they have married.

Banana Fish is so sad because it showed awful things that also sometimes happen in real life. Also, it’s so sad because the main character Ash (personally my favorite character) is only happy the one moment before he dies, and Ash went through all those terrible terrifying things.

Ash is said to die after Lao stabbed him in the manga. In the anime, Ash gets stabbed and falls “asleep” in the library. The banana fish website colors in the characters pictures to black and white when a character dies, and Ash’s character still seems to have color.

The finale tied up all the loose ends, as the Banana Fish project was destroyed, hostages were rescued, and the tormentors were dead. Ash and Sing, who were supposed to fight to the death, decided not to; unfortunately, this intention was not made known.

Eiji loses the love of his life. Even 7 years later he’s still in a pretty terrible state and struggling to move on, still in a state of mourning. It’s unimaginable the grief and guilt he’s gone through before we see him in GoL. And the ending is even worse, naturally, for Ash.

Eiji tells Ash, “My words might not mean anything now, but just remember one thing. In Banana Fish, Garden of Light, Sing explains to Akira Ibe that to his knowledge, Ash and Eiji didn’t have a sexual relationship but loved each other the way lovers do.

He explicitly says that Ash and Eiji had a non-sexual relationship, but that they “loved each other, maybe the way lovers do.” The Japanese version has an equally hinting but vague wording, “they may have felt something like [romantic] love.”

Violet Evergarden has it’s sad moments but it’s real and natural, the series is about love, loss and live. I also tend to get rather depressed when a beautiful anime goes to an end and there not a real happy ending or similar.

At any rate, Ash dies at the end of the series, so we’ll never know if the reason his relationship with Eiji was like that because he was asexual or because he was still heavily traumatized. But to answer your question, yes, they are canonically romantically involved.
