L didn’t like the path Light chose. L hated Kira. L said “he considered Light as his only friend. But he said that with a condition, he said to Light that “it won’t be good if he turns out to be Kira, as he is the only friend L has ever had”.
Q. Why is Light Yagami hated?
Well mostly people hate Yagami Light , because he was all about his ideal called ‘justice’. He was obsessed with the idea of a perfect world were there were no criminals. So much that he decided to take the law in his hand. His ideal wasn’t something to despise but his malpractices were.

Q. Is Light Yagami selfish?
Light is straight up selfish. He didn’t care about justice nor peace. What he did with the death note is straight up murder people. While he did straight up murder people, both L and Light wanted to achieve justice, just in their own ways..
Q. Does light kill his dad?
Light yagami never killed his dad. His dad got severely got injured during the combat b/w the police force and the mafia gang. Later on when mello destroyed the hideout in which Mr. Yagami got injured.
Q. Did Light Yagami kill his sister?
He chose not to kill her because he was thinking of himself (notice she is never mentioned again even though the father had retrieved her and could have easily connected his two children). In the awesome musical for Death note, they give his sister a song about Light being her hero that would protect everyone.
Q. Why could Lights dad see his lifespan?
When Light’s father died, he saw Light’s lifespan with his Shinigami eyes, so he could “confirm” that Light was not Kira. However, at the end of the story, Mikami looked at Light with his Shinigami eyes and recognized him, because he could not see his lifespan.
Q. Does Light Yagami kill L?
L dies. Light kills him by setting things up so L actually will find out that Misa is the second Kira, forcing Rem to kill L, and his assistant Wataru. Light then becomes the new L. Light’s father dies, killed by one of Mello’s men trying to get the Death Note back.
Q. Why did they kill L?
His death proved that he was smarter and way ahead of Light . He had Light tangled up in his web all along . Light could not escape L and his successors and eventually lost , he made a mistake thinking L left nothing behind him and carelessly moved on . so yes , L had to die in order to catch Kira .
