United States USAID is a long-term partner in helping Indonesia tackle development challenges. In 2014, total aid for Indonesia from the United States amounted to $196,651,740, of which $149,639,762 was spearheaded by USAID. Majority of the aid was allocated towards governance, health and education.

It comes after a decade in which Australia’s aid to Indonesia has fallen by more than half, dropping from 515 million Australian dollars ($374.9 million) in the 2014-15 financial year to 255 million Australian dollars ($185.6 million) in 2020-21. …

Australia is Indonesia’s largest bilateral partner in social protection and only bilateral partner in basic education. We are working with Indonesia to strengthen its response in social protection, food security and education.

Indonesia will be the second largest overall recipient of Australia’s $4 billion aid budget in 2019-20, receiving $298.5 million for education, infrastructure, agriculture and governance programs. Australia is the fourth largest aid donor to Indonesia.

We enjoy extensive cooperation including on strategic, economic, security, development and education issues. Australia’s diplomatic network in Indonesia includes the embassy in Jakarta and consulates in Bali, Surabaya and Makassar. The bilateral relationship is underpinned by regular high-level meetings.

It operated programs in five separate regions: Papua New Guinea, South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka), East Asia (Burma, Cambodia, China, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam), the Pacific (the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati.

China and Indonesia established diplomatic relations in 1950. Despite this, various forms of relations have been ongoing for centuries. China is the most populous nation in the world, while Indonesia has the 4th largest population. Both nations are members of the APEC and the G20.

Our biggest export to Indonesia is wheat, followed by crude petroleum, and live animals (mostly cattle). Indonesia’s biggest exports to Australia are petroleum, wood and footwear.

The United States has invested more than $1 billion in health and more than $5 billion in total assistance to Indonesia over the past 20 years.

Indonesia’s military is generally not considered to have the capability to invade Australia. Public opinion surveys in Indonesia have indicated that Australia is its fourth most “warmly regarded” country, with significant support for closer ties in education, health, trade, and democracy.

Australia is one of the big aid providers to Indonesia currently, but is still far below traditional donors such as Japan, the US, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. Australian aid, both as loans and grants, is not independent of its political and economic interests. This can be seen from two aspects.

Australia has agreed to lend up to $1 billion to Indonesia to aid the country’s COVID-19 recovery, the latest in a line of measures designed to bolster Canberra’s relationships with its Southeast Asian and Pacific neighbors.

Around 13,700 Indonesian students were enrolled in Australian educational institutions in 2014, the eighth-largest international student group. Indonesia is currently our 12th-largest trading partner. Its location, geography and demography give Indonesia an important geopolitical and strategic role in the region.

The logo uses the name accompanied by a kangaroo, available in various combinations of black, red, blue and white. The logo “must be used on all aid-related products and activities funded by the Australian Government.
