A router is a medium of data transmission. It is one means of getting free internet at home without paying. However, a wireless router is the best and most convenient device to use when creating free internet at home. A wireless router helps the home owner to get WI-FI at home without cable.

When you sign up for internet service — with companies like Verizon’s Fios, Comcast’s Xfinity or otherwise — your ISP will often offer you a modem and a Wi-Fi router for a small monthly rental fee, usually anywhere from $8 to $12 a month.

When you use a Wi-Fi network to access the Internet from your phone, the data usage does not count against your bundled data. Mobile providers often allocate a certain amount of data for free each month and charge you a fee for any data usage beyond this.

The answer is no. Generally, when your phone is connected to your home or any other Wi-Fi network, it will not connect to the 5G, 4G, 3G, or any type of wireless carrier network. Any data used via Wi-Fi will not count toward your data plan.

Reconsider using WiFi assist or Adaptive WiFi On iOS, it’s Wi-Fi Assist. On Android, it’s Adaptive Wi-Fi. Either way, it’s something you should consider turning off if you use too much data each month. The same setting on Android phones can be found in the Connections area of the Settings app.

Android. When an Android device is connected to Wi-Fi, an indicator icon appears in the top right of the screen. To check which network your phone is connected to, open your Settings app and tap “Wi-Fi.” If you’re connected, the network will say “Connected” under its listing.

If you use WiFi, there’s no cost, but if you use your cellphone’s data, it’s deducted from your data plan. Android – MMS Without Data

1. Push the menu button and pick Settings.

4. Make sure “Data enabled” is checked (MMS won’t work either if you disable it here!)
5. Go to “Access Point Names”
6. Scroll down to the “APN type” setting.
7. Change its value to be only “mms”.

When you look at photos and videos on social media, your phone is actually downloading them. Now, they won’t take up as much data as they would if you uploaded them because sites compress them. Fortunately, turning off auto-playing video is simple. In Android, open the Facebook app and go to Settings.

Android phones cannot send or receive SMS with wifi only.

Text messages are treated differently than data, and as such they will send and receive as long as you have cellular coverage. However, if you turn off data on your iPhone, you will no longer be able to send iMessages because iMessages rely on data. Instead, your iMessages will be sent as SMS (text) messages.

1. Open the Settings app and go to “Message”
2. Locate the switch for “Send as SMS” and turn this to the ON position (if send as SMS is already on, try turning it off for about 10 seconds and then turn it back on again)
3. Return to Messages and try sending the text message again.

(On iPhone, tap the “Settings” icon, tap “Cellular,” then turn off “Cellular Data.” On Android, tap the “Settings” icon, tap “Network & internet,” tap “Mobile network” and turn off “Mobile data.”) After turning off mobile data, you’ll still be able to make and receive phone calls and get text messages.

Messages are considered texts and don’t count toward your data usage. Your data usage is also free when you turn on chat features.

You should still receive phone calls even with mobile data turned off. Just make sure you actually turn off your mobile data; do NOT try to turn off your data by using airplane mode. Airplane mode will not allow calls to come through. Notifications are currently off and you won’t receive updates.
