Buses in Guernsey will no longer accept cash payments from Thursday. Puffin Pass pay-as-you-go cards, contactless payment, concession and student cards will continue to be accepted after 1 July, CT Plus said. Follow BBC Guernsey on Twitter and Facebook.

From today, bus services operated by CT Plus will accept payments from contactless cards (except American Express) or smart devices on the ticket machine reader. Single tickets as well as one and two day passes can be purchased on the buses, but seven day passes will need to be bought from the Town Terminus Shop.

Fares. A flat fare of £1.00 will apply to all journeys of any distance on all routes. A flat fare of £3.00 will apply for all late night services that run after 10pm. One child under 5 years of age can travel free with an adult.

Dogs may be carried on buses at the discretion of the bus driver. All dogs are carried free and are not allowed on seats.

There is a flat fare of £2 per single journey or £5 for a 1 day bus pass, which is excellent value and you can use it as a hop on hop off bus in Guernsey with a 1 day pass.

Hello – You could drive round the island in an hour but as you us the word leisurely I would say that to allow either half a day or a full day would be ideal.

Guernsey and Jersey are part of the CTA or Common Travel Area, which is included in the UK. In both destinations there is no requirement to carry a passport as there are no immigration controls in place, however a form of photographic identification is required.
