Landon couldn’t actually play the fiddle, though. He definitely nailed the movements well enough to look convincing on-screen… But that was about it. He may not have been a musician, but he was a good enough actor to appear to play the fiddle tunes that were the soundtrack to the Ingalls’ lives.

Little House on the Prairie (TV series)

Walnut Grove was incorporated on March 18, 1879. Its name came from the beautiful grove of walnut trees along the banks of Plum Creek.

The first book in the series, Little House in the Big Woods, was released in 1932. However, while the Ingalls family’s story was the basis for the series, the books and show aren’t entirely autobiographical. Instead, Little House on the Prairie is considered historical fiction.

He often came with the Ingalls family in picnics, and Walnut Grove gatherings. Jack was almost shot by Charles in The Raccoon because he thought Jack was infected with rabies….

Sadly, several of the cast and crew of Little House died of cancer. Michael Landon died of pancreatic cancer in 1991, he was just 54. Victor French, who played the dependable neighbor that helped the Ingalls settle, Isaiah Edwards, also died of cancer when he was 54.

In real life, Mary never married or had children. However, according to the Pioneer Girl blog, she did have a longtime boyfriend who asked her to marry him at one point. Not much is known about their relationship. Her mother, to whom Mary was especially close, left her the family home on Third Street in De Smet.

Nine months later, nearly two years into their marriage, Mary gives birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy, whom she and Adam name Adam Charles Holbrook Kendall [“Adam” after Mary’s husband, “Charles” after Mary’s father, and “Holbrook” after Mary’s grandfather on her mother’s side].

During the episode May We Make Them Proud, Adam Jr, the son of Adam Kendall and Mary Ingalls Kendall, died in a fire at the school for the blind. But they never had another child on the show, and Mary and Adam last appeared on the show in the Christmas episode A Christmas They Never Forgot.
