The playwright Neil Simon filed a petition for divorce from his second wife, the actress Marsha Mason, on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. The 55-year-old Mr. Simon cited irreconcilable differences, all that is needed under California law, as his reason for seeking a divorce.
