Since Grey’s Anatomy is in the off-season, many fans are rewatching past seasons. One question that comes up often is why Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) and Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) didn’t attend Derek Shepherd’s (Patrick Dempsey) funeral on the show.

At the last minute, she decides to keep the child, sending Alex into a spiral of pain and grief over breaking off her relationship with Maggie over the topic of adopting a child.

Though the duo were in the throes of planning their wedding, Alex (Chyler Leigh) came to realize that she did want the possibility of having children, something Maggie (Floriana Lima) never saw as being part of her future. Therefore, the two amicably parted ways.

And then, Lena says on a whim that they should go Paris. Lena breaks up with James because he doesn’t support her research; while James makes valid points that her hooking up with the government could mean really bad things.

So yes, James Olsen is leaving Supergirl. Actually, actor Mehcad Brooks (who plays James) announced he’d be leaving the show back in July 2019.

This isn’t the fault of anyone, nor is it a bad thing, but people were still, of course, disappointed when the people who worked on the show — both writers and actors alike — said there would never be a romance between Kara and Lena. Personally, I’m not invested in any of the couples on the show.
