If you take norethindrone for contraception: Take one pill every day, no more than 24 hours apart. You may get pregnant if you do not take one pill daily.

Though pregnancy tests are highly accurate, there’s still room for error. A few issues can affect your results, but your birth control pill isn’t one of them. The hormones in your birth control pill don’t affect a test’s ability to detect hCG.

Neither estrogen or progesterone impact pregnancy tests. Taking a pregnancy test at the wrong time can absolutely cause a false negative. While many tests claim they can reveal a pregnancy before a missed period, this is not the case for all women.

Effectiveness. With typical use, Norethindrone and Errin are about 87% effective. Progestin-only pills are slightly less effective than combination birth control pills. To achieve maximum effectiveness at preventing pregnancy, the mini-pill should be taken every day at the same time.

Vaginal bleeding of various amounts may occur between your regular menstrual periods during the first 3 months of use. This is sometimes called spotting when slight, or breakthrough bleeding when heavier. If this should occur, continue with your regular dosing schedule. The bleeding usually stops within 1 week.

All birth control pills have hormones in that can cause hair loss, but the ones with the least likely to cause hair loss are norgestimate, norethindrone, desogestrel, or ethynodiol diacetate. These pills are the ones that have the least amount of androgenic activity, due to their low-androgen index.

Common side effects may include:

• irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting;
• headache;
• breast pain or swelling;
• stomach pain, bloating, nausea, vomiting;
• hair loss;
• depressed mood, trouble sleeping;
• weight gain; or.
• vaginal itching or discharge.

One tablet contains 1 milligram (mg) of estradiol and 0.5 mg of norethindrone, or 0.5 mg of estradiol and 0.1 mg of norethindrone. Children—Use is not recommended.

NORETHINDRONE (nor eth IN drone) is an oral contraceptive. The product contains a female hormone known as a progestin. It is used to prevent pregnancy.

Weaning Off or Stopping Hormone Therapy

1. reduce estrogen daily dosage to next lower level every 2-4 weeks until the lowest dosage is reached.
2. if symptoms of lower estrogen become significant, then maintain current dosage for several weeks and, if necessary, increase to next highest dosage for 2-4 weeks.
