For me anything over 40 hours is a lot. My favourite games generally have between 50 and 100 hours, but more than that is pushing it for me.

While there isn’t a consensus on how many hours of video games (and general screen time) is too much, the finding by Twenge and her colleagues that more than five hours per day is excessive seems reasonable.

Four hours straight isn’t great though, you need to take a break every hour, walk around, get a drink, have a snack, whatever, just take your eyes off the screen for a few minutes and let them have a rest, it’s easy to strain your eyes.

They end up spending hours and hours playing this game while dismissing other edifying or more “productive” activities. So, time spent on League of Legends can be either productive or wasted.

It is a great hobby BUT it can become an addiction just like lots of other things. If gaming starts to impact your life in negative ways then it is not long a hobby. It has become a form of escapism that is dangerous.
