A contract may be notarized again if the person signing it, SIGNS AGAIN at a later date. They may sign again and date with the new date on the same document. The signer must appear again, in person, in front of the second notary with their ID and be notarized then.

A notary who issues false certificates, and this could include backdated certificates would be guilty of a misdemeanor. A false Acknowledgment certificate constitutes FORGERY. It is not advisable for you to witness or certify a document for a member of your family.

It is a statutory requirement that the witness must be present when the executing party signs the deed. Where it is not possible to be in the physical presence of an independent witness, then a family member or cohabiting individual will suffice, providing the witness is not party to the documents or wider transaction.
