All you need to do is remove the receptacle after you move in. Post a picture of the wires in the receptacle box. If you have: Black, Red, White, and bare ground, you can convert it to 120. If you have: Black, White, and bare ground, you can convert it to 120.

Need to have an extension cord rated for 220V. Galen, You will be fine with a 110V extension cord on a 220V Euro outlet – as long as you don’t exceed it’s rated amperage maximum. If you look at your 100-240V devices, you’ll see that the amp draw at 240V is one-half the draw at 100V.

Visit your local hardware, home improvement or small electrics retailer and ask for a stepdown converter that will convert your 220V dryer to a 110V dryer.

Dryer – A clothes dryer will need an electrical outlet that is wired to a 240 volt circuit. The 240 volt circuits are spread throughout two wires, a neutral and a ground wire. If a dryer is plugged in to a 120 volt outlet and will not work correctly and will likely cause damage to the dryer.

The answer is no in all likelihood. Most dryers use a 240 volt circuit, while the common domestic containers are 120 volts. If plugged into this outlet, the dryer does not work.

Voltage conversions are necessary when you want to run appliances that weren’t designed to accommodate the standard voltage of your power outlet. To make a higher-voltage clothes dryer work in a lower-voltage outlet, you’ll need to install a converter.
