You cannot buy land in Antarctica. In particular, you cannot buy land in any way connected to the US, because the US has no territorial claims in Antarctica.

In an area of karst topography, the ground water has been flowing through the bedrock, concentrated particularly along bedding planes and joins or faults within the rock. Through time, chemical weathering along some of these pathways of ground water has dissolved and removed rock material.

Karst is a type of landscape where the dissolving of the bedrock has created sinkholes, sinking streams, caves, springs, and other characteristic features. Karst is associated with soluble rock types such as limestone, marble, and gypsum.

The action of surface water and groundwater in the chemical weathering or chemical erosion of soluble carbonate rocks such as magnesium carbonates (dolomites) and calcium carbonates (limestone) produces landforms that are called karst topography.

Unlike just about any where else in the world, it is not really possible to build easily in Antarctica using naturally found materials (igloos aside which aren’t permanent structures). Winds and storms can upset building plans even in the relatively warmer and calmer summer months.

Antarctica’s nonstop winters make it impossible to grow food outdoors. Fruits and vegetables are instead shipped long distances from overseas, just a few times per year. The farm can grow food year-round for researchers at the Neumayer III polar station on the Ekstrom Ice Shelf.
