America Forward. He said satellites can be seen during twilight, early evening and really late at night right before morning twilight when satellites in low orbits can be seen.

In it, Copernicus established that the planets orbited the sun rather than the Earth. He laid out his model of the solar system and the path of the planets. He didn’t publish the book, however, until 1543, just two months before he died. He diplomatically dedicated the book to Pope Paul III.

Copernicus was born into a family of well-to-do merchants, and after his father’s death, his uncle–soon to be a bishop–took the boy under his wing. He was given the best education of the day and bred for a career in canon (church) law.

And in fact most satellites — especially the bits of debris — are too faint to be seen with the unaided eye. But depending on who’s counting, several hundred can be spotted with the unaided eye.

But many people want to know if these satellites can see their house, or even through their roofs and walls to the people inside. The answer is: no. Satellites differ greatly in the level of detail they can “see”.

Hubble is best seen from areas of the Earth that are between the latitudes of 28.5 degrees north and 28.5 degrees south. This is because Hubble’s orbit is inclined to the equator at 28.5 degrees. In contrast, the ISS passes over much more of the Earth because its orbit has a higher inclination at 51.6 degrees.

Can we use the Hubble Space Telescope to see anything left behind by the astronauts? Yes, the flag is still on the moon, but you can’t see it using a telescope. Resolving the larger lunar rover (which has a length of 3.1 meters) would still require a telescope 75 meters in diameter.

Space emits a range of wavelengths of light, some we can see others we can’t. The majority of emissions are of red and blue light which are easily visible to the human eye but there are also UV, X-rays and gamma rays which are invisible.

If we add up all the light coming from galaxies (and the stars within them), and from all the clouds of gas and dust in the Universe, we’d end up with a colour very close to white, but actually a little bit ‘beige’.
