Honduras has qualified for the World Cup three times, in 1982, 2010 and 2014, and never advanced beyond the group stage.

Mexico is expected to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games have been postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be the nation’s twenty-fourth appearance at the Summer Olympics.

The 2022 World Cup is taking place in Qatar in the winter months rather than the usual summer ones, due to the heat. The tournament kicks off on Monday November 21 at the Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor with a match that will feature the host country.

Why is Qatar 2022 having such an impact on the calendar? But concerns over the searing summer temperatures in the Middle East, which average 41.2 degrees Celsius (106.2 Fahrenheit) in June, prompted FIFA to move the World Cup to November-December.
