As a general rule, the admission of women is now recognised in Continental (Grand Orient) jurisdictions. In Anglo-American Freemasonry, neither mixed nor all-female lodges are officially recognised, although unofficial relations can be cordial, with premises sometimes shared.

Masonic bodies do not ban Catholics from joining if they wish to do so. There has never been a Masonic prohibition against Catholics joining the fraternity, and some Freemasons are Catholics, despite the Catholic Church’s prohibition of joining the freemasons.

Jahbulon or Jabulon (Hebrew: יהבעלאון‎, romanized: Yahb’elon) is a word which is allegedly used in some rituals of Royal Arch Masonry, and derivations thereof. It has been found to be speculation or even a European mispronunciation of the name Jehovah.

All Shriners are Masons, but not all Masons are Shriners. Shriners International is a spin-off from Freemasonry, the oldest, largest and most widely known fraternity in the world. When a member has completed the third and final degree he becomes a Master Mason and is then eligible to become a Shriner.

Having fun and helping children in need is a hallmark of the Shriners fraternity. Shriners’ ladies have the opportunity to enjoy the same camaraderie and purpose through several independent organizations that women who are related to a Shriner are eligible to join.

Named after the city of Fez, Morocco, the hat represented the Arabian theme the fraternity was founded on. Today the fez is worn at Shriners’ functions, in parades and at outings as a way of gaining exposure for the fraternity. Members customize their fez to show their allegiance to their temple.

Founded in 2001, Charity Navigator has become the nation’s largest and most utilized evaluator of charities.

The Shriners, or Shrine Masons, were originally called “The Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine” (A.A.O.N.M.S.). They felt that while they loved Masonry, which traces its roots to stonemasons and craftsmen of the Middle Ages, was a tad too focused on ritual.

The Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America (also known as LOSNA) members are bound by their goal to promote sociability, good fellowship and the betterment of all ladies connected with the organization.

“Shriners Red” is our core color. It represents the color of the fez worn by Shriners and their love for Shriners Hospitals for Children. The Shriners Red color should be used on all corporate marketing collateral, while black is used mostly for typography. Our support colors are warm, welcoming and kid-friendly.
