Camels are native to desert environments, including the Sahara Desert. They have adapted to the harsh, hot and arid environment in several ways. They have three eyelids—one of them is clear, and comes up over the eye to protect it from sand and sand storms.

The dromedary camel, also called an Arabian camel, can be found in North Africa and the Middle East. The Bactrian camel lives in Central Asia.

Domesticated dromedary camels are found throughout desert areas in North Africa and the Middle East. A feral population of dromedary camels lives in Australia.

In Western Australia, only feral species may be hunted on private land with the landowner’s permission, subject to holding a valid firearms licence. These species include camels, donkeys, feral cattle, wood ducks, feral dogs, feral horse, hares and starling.

Camels. The UAE is home to a large number of wild camels. You must have seen them on your trip from Dubai to the other Emirates or when driving to Oman. Obviously, you can also enjoy watching them anywhere around the city.

Camel dishes aren’t all that popular in restaurants in Dubai, chiefly because the meat itself is actually quite tough, which makes cooking with it a bit of a struggle. Camel burgers are growing in popularity, but more as a novelty meal than a regular part of the diet.

Haj

The camel is used for several purposes for which its role is essential. It is used as a beast of burden for transporting goods and people as well as for providing milk. Milk is often the only regular food source for its owners. The camel is universally highly valued and provides social standing for its owner.
