1. Use water and dish soap. While this is a manual approach, it can be effective.
2. Vacuum beetles up. Using a wet/dry or ShopVac, suck beetles up where you see them resting or moving.
3. Hang beetle traps.

These tiny black beetle bugs belong to the family Dermestidae and their larvae can be a true household pest. Like most beetles, black carpet beetles have wings and they can fly. Although not always a pure black color, they are generally dark brown to black and may have lighter patterns on their elytra.

Are carpet beetles a threat to your dog? You can relax as carpet beetles don’t pose any threat to dogs. As a matter of fact, carpet beetles are not particularly destructive, their larva is. And it is the larvae that are responsible for chewing through clothing, carpeting, and upholstery.
